We finally did it. On April 18th we set out for Miami, where the night was spent roaming the city for a while before settling down for a quick night's rest. The next day, Rob and I and the family that accompanied us spent the morning seeing what Miami had to offer before we went to the port where the Norwegian Epic awaited us. Time on board was spent largely in O'Sheehan's where we would work and just relax. With 11 days at sea, there wasn't a lot that happened on the ship worth noting. It was a nice way to get from Miami to Barcelona though, much better than a plane ticket which would have been twice as much. There were, of course, the expected towel animals who are equal parts adorable and terrifying to me. |
A few days later and we landed in Barcelona, Spain. We were greeted by a fleet of taxis moving in to feed and a barrage of panic as we desperately searched for our bike all-in-one tool. After nearly ten minutes of searching, we located the tool and put our bikes together. From the port we road to our hotel, which was thankfully close. After dropping off our bags in hotel storage, we took off biking around town. Right off the bat it was a weird place, and there was no real designation for bikes at all times. Eventually we got the hang of it, as it seems the real rule is just: if it fits, you can go there. There are some nice biking lanes on the largest roads, but really after following around locals for long enough we got the hang of it. Tonight we repack the bags, and in the morning set off for the next city. We'll be spending a total of five days (four nights) in Spain, after which our next country destination is Andorra. |
