Today we made our first stop at a location we've known for a long time. It wasn't so much about exploring and finding new things, it was about saying goodbye to the things we love about this old city, Chicago.
Our first stop was the iconic Chicago theater. Though taking a selfie with it in the background proved difficult. Marshall Fields was next. Every year when I (Sharon) was younger my family would come here the Friday after Thanksgiving for a nice day of shopping. Things weren't as crazy back then when it came to crowds. We did miss the train one time though and had to run through the crowded streets, me and my sister clutching oversized stuffed animals and oversized suckers all the way to the next station, just barely making it. Millennium Park and the Bean were next. This selfie proved much easier. We paused briefly in the middle of the road to snap a shot of the Chicago Board of Trade. Some of you might recognize this as the spot where the Joker totally flipped that truck over in that sweet scene from Dark Knight (so cool). We had our last slice of Chicago Giordano's today. It was delicious. This isn't their first location, but it's as close as we could get (since the original closed a while ago). We finished the day with a trip to the Skydeck at the top of the Sears Tower. It was awesome. The Ledges they added to the Skydeck make the trip totally worth it. It ended up being a bit foggy, but the view of the city at night was still sweet. Rob synchronized his view of Chicago, and we headed home. |
It was a long day with a lot of walking and sore feet, but well worth it. Goodbye, Chicago. It's been fun, but it's time for us to go.
