On December 31st, 2014, we set out from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Orlando, Florida. Our car was literally packed to the brim, leaving just barely enough room for Rob and I to sit in the front. Our two cats were at our feet, and made it amply clear they were not pleased with their situation. The car ride was long and tiresome. We rested for the night with some friends in Nashville, TN before continuing on the next morning. Our only reprieve was a slight detour in Chattanooga to look at that choo choo we've heard so much about. Finally, after 24 hours of driving in a cramped car with cats who just couldn't seem to stop peeing, we arrived at our temporary home. We were all more than happy to stretch our legs. We slept a good deal the next day, along with the cats as we all settled into our new lives. Late Christmas was celebrated shortly after our arrival, after which we started to get to work. By get to work I obviously mean visit Universal Studios. We scored some free tickets (thanks Kristine) and tore through both parks at record speed. We visited both Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, I scored some sweet new pins, we had the crap scared out of us on a few rides, and at the end of it we went home tired but happy. The next day, real work began. We purchased the bikes that will be taking us through Europe. We both have Diamondbacks, Rob's is a Trace and mine is a Calico. Not to mention we got some swanky shoes. Finally a pair of shoes I won't get blisters in! Our first ride was to Orlando and back, a total of 13 miles from where we started. It was a bit rough and awkward since we had a phone mishap that led to us going without any GPS. It was a good way to stretch our legs after a while of hibernation. |
All that to say, we've had some fun, but now it's time for the months of training to begin.
